As a child, I was very private about my writing. It was my dream, and I didn’t want to share it with anyone. I didn’t want to share my ideas, or my stories, or even hear about other people who wanted to write. It wasn’t until I became an adult that I realized that’s the wrong attitude. Having a community of writers, readers, and friends who love stories is incredibly important and beneficial! When I attended my first writing conference, it was amazing to meet people like me who loved writing and the art of storytelling as much as I did. I’m sharing some freebies with any fellow writers who would like to use them!
Over the years, I’ve done a lot of studying of writing, but one of my strengths as a middle school teacher is teaching how to write. Graphic organizers and charts can help organize your ideas and help you realize what you need to develop. All of the resources below are ones I created to help me figure out my own stories. I hope they help you!
- Resource #1: Major Plot Problem Chart. Struggling to revise your plot and make sure it all weaves together? I created this chart to help pinpoint plot problems and guide my revision process. Click here to download the PDF!
- Resource #2: The Five Plot Points Chart. Do you know what your five plot points are? This approach is a great method to planning, even if you’re a pantser. You can also use it to help revise your story. Click here to download the PDF!
