“Miracles” placed third in the first round of the NYCMidnight Short Story Exercise in 2020. For each round of the contest, writers receive an assigned genre, character, subject, and must write a short story under a time limit and word count. With each round, the time limit and word count decreases.
“Tiny Love Story” is the final product from a writing exercise: could I write about my love story in 100 words or less? It’s based on the New York Times feature Tiny Love Stories.
“Diana, Divine,” is a creative nonfiction piece I used in the classroom with my students. It’s modeled after “My Name” by Sandra Cisneros.
